Using the Mouse

Using the keyboard is a fundamental part of the Rigtalk system.  Let’s look at a few of the keys you will need to know about.

Using the Keyboard

Keep the mouse facing directly forward, with its wire towards the screen.

Move the mouse north/south, east/west, or diagonally across the mouse mat. This moves a small pointer on screen. Don’t turn your wrist to get large movements, move your arm.

Put the back of the mouse firmly in your palm, with your thumb down one side. To get a good grip, bend your thumb so it's against the side of the mouse. Your first finger should be on the left mouse button and your middle finger on the right button.

Click

Press and release the left mouse button once quickly.

Note that unless you are told to use the right mouse button you always use the left button. Clicking is used for choosing something on the computer screen.

Drag and Drop

Point to the object you want to move on the screen with the mouse, Press the left mouse button, keep it pressed down and move the mouse pointer to another place, then let go of the mouse button.

Drag-and-drop is used to move things about, such as placing an object into a list.  You release the mouse button to drop the object you’re dragging.
